It could be Lab Created, Bioengineered, Modified, Non-GMO, or have Forever Chemicals as a Freshness preserver. Land grabs destroy farms/ranches, and food.
FRANKEN WATERMELON Man Describes How Watermelon Is the Latest Fruit To Undergo Chemical Makeover
Each day, the concern about our food supply only seems to grow. It wasn’t long ago when you could buy fruit or vegetables without worrying about artificial additives. But besides pesticides, there now could be even more ingredients to be worried about.
This latest issue is becoming a hot topic of debate. It is still unclear whether it’s being put into our watermelon, but this chemical is found in many foods.
The food dye erythrosine, also known as FD&C Red No. 3 and Red Dye 3, is the culprit. This artificial dye, banned in countries like Australia, New Zealand, and the European Union, is still legal in many places, including the US (except California, where it’s also prohibited). Despite the FDA banning it in cosmetic products three decades ago, our food, such as candy, baked goods, cereals, and snack foods, still contains it. If you’re old enough, you may remember your favorite lipstick being discontinued when this happened, yet we can still consume it and feed it to children. It’s unbelievable. The potential health risks associated with this dye are a cause for concern and include hyperactivity in children, neurological side effects, cancer, and thyroid tumors seen in lab animals. Dr. DeBease revealed that American law prohibits the adulteration of watermelon, making it less likely to be found here; however, it’s still possible. More concerning is that it’s found in many prepackaged foods on store shelves today. Perhaps testing could tell us conclusively whether it’s in our melons, too.
Yes. As a whole Americans have a sweet tooth. When they were Developing jar spaghetti sauce, the traditional Italian style in taste tests was not well received, so they added some sugar. Problem solved..we now have Ragu. The History Channel is doing How Food is Made series again. And that was one a few days ago. To tell the truth, there isn't much difference in any of the jar brands, I've bought all but RAO, and it is way too expensive for sampling, the reviews tout superior ingredients. https://cookindocs.com/raos-sauce/. I grew up on homemade. With age, I've taken to 'doctoring' jar sauce, more dried spices, a can of paste, and petite diced stewed tomatoes. This year I'll be using the tomatoes I canned last summer. It will make it taste fresher. Already done it with soups. Had to use the jar sauce up.
Mom and grandma taught me to feed veggies first, as once babies taste the sweet fruit they prefer it to veggies. And it's hard to get them to eat veggies then. The least liked first. Pumpkin or sweet potato last. Another reason to avoid jar cereal. It's sweet. Mine were on mashed-up solids at 7 months, about the time the first teeth come in.
Now we can't trust feeding them plain Cheerios as finger foods.
