‘Bombshell’ CDC Study: Kids Who Got Pfizer Vaccine More Likely Than Unvaccinated to Get COVID Infection. Children under 5 who received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines were more likely to become infected with COVID-19 than unvaccinated children who had natural immunity, according to data in a “bombshell” peer-reviewed study by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) scientists.

However, the authors of the study, published earlier this month in the Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, didn’t highlight that finding in their conclusion. Instead, they wrote: “Participants with evidence of prior SARS-CoV-2 infection were less likely to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 and experience symptomatic COVID-19 compared with those who had no evidence of prior infection. “Although there was no difference in risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and symptomatic COVID-19 among children aged 6 months-4 years by vaccination status, prior infection with SARS-CoV-2 was associated with lower incidence of both.”

The authors recommended COVID-19 vaccination “to reduce severe illness,” but conceded the “overall risk of infection may not differ substantially between vaccinated and unvaccinated” children under 5.

A California family sued Amazon-owned telehealth provider One Medical and a local hospital and physician, alleging they were “reckless and negligent” in their care of a 45-year-old man who died after seeking help via an online appointment. According to the complaint, 45-year-old Philip Tong scheduled an online appointment with Amazon One Medical on Dec. 18, 2023. Tong complained of shortness of breath and said he was coughing up blood and that his feet had turned blue. One Medical advised him to purchase an inhaler. At the time of his appointment, Tong had been sick with flu-like symptoms for about a week and was suffering from “uncontrolled diabetes, stage 3 chronic kidney disease, infection and sepsis,” according to the lawsuit. The case remained under the media’s radar until The Washington Post reported the story Wednesday. According to the Post, this “appears to be the first wrongful-death suit to be brought against One Medical, which Amazon acquired in February 2023.”
